maḳām is very excited to be part of this year’s Project Space Festival—an initiative of Berlin’s independent visual arts scene offering a month-long program featuring 30 events at 30 different self-organized spaces across Berlin.
Our one-day event will focus on Andreas Reihse’s new book Schlingern: Kreidler & ... [2009–2014] (maḳām editions, May 2026).
«Schlingern — Text, Image, Sound» is a day-long, multi-format program proposing “schlingern” as an artistic method: a movement between contrasting and complementary registers. An exhibition of original drawings, photographs, and source materials unfolds in the space as a non-linear constellation, revealing processes of notation, collaboration, and encounter. Andreas Reihse is a founding member of Kreidler, and Kreidler’s long-standing musical practice—exploring forms of conversation across music, text, and art, and working through transdisciplinary, contextual, and collective approaches—informs the project’s exploration of shifting relations between image, text, and sound.
Throughout the day, the space will be open for visitors to enter at any time and encounter maḳām as a site for attentive listening and shared reflection, where publishing, exhibition, and performance become interwoven practices. Alongside the screenings, listening sessions, and exhibition throughout the day, we will offer two live performances in the evening: a reading and conversation with Andreas Reihse, and a musical performance by Kreidler (Andreas Reihse, Alex Paulick, Thomas Klein) together with saxophonist Timuçin Dündar, improvising on motifs and structures from Kreidler’s repertoire. Kreidler ft. Timuçin Dündar will play two in situ improv sets.
This is one you do not want to miss! The whole event is free to attend.
